Muskegon County is a fast growing lakeshore community in Western Michigan. It is part of the Grand Rapids – Muskegon – Holland Combined Metropolitan Statistical Area (CMSA), the fastest growing region in the upper Midwest with a population of nearly 1.1 million persons. Consistent with the rest of the region, Muskegon has long been a center of industrial development with major manufacturers in aerospace, automotive, office furniture, defense, and related industries calling the area home. This outstanding industrial base has been an engine for economic growth and is creating opportunities in emerging industries like energy technology and life sciences. Add to that the quality of life that comes with a location on the water and it becomes apparent why Industry Week and various other publications consistently rank West Michigan as a “World Class” community. Catch the Wave to Muskegon! Like sand or snow, the memories made in Muskegon will not be ones to simply brush off. We’ll stick with you long after your visit to our area. Our sugar sand beaches and dunes are nationally recognized and they offer a perfect natural playground, but we are much more than sand between your toes. We’ll take your visit or vacation to a whole new level.

Cross Lake Michigan aboard the Lake Express hi-speed passenger and car ferry, from Muskegon to Milwaukee in only 2 1/2 hours. Service from May through October. Ride miles of thrills aboard Shivering Timbers Rollercoaster or defy gravity on the Funnel of Fear at Michigan’s Adventure Amusement & Water Park. Experience over 60 rides including the new coaster Thunderhawk.

Enjoy a live concert on Muskegon Lake during the Unity Festival and the Michigan Irish Music Festival. Experience a rare thrill on the luge run at Muskegon’s Winter Sports Complex, 1 of only 4 tracks in the country. Visit one or all of our three State Parks along the lakeshore for camping, hiking and relaxation.

Our area also boasts over 60 miles of winding trails for bike enthusiasts. Include history and culture into your visit with Muskegon’s Museum of Art, the Great Lakes Naval Memorial & Museum and the Hackley & Hume Historic site all within minutes of downtown Muskegon. Downtown is also home to the Frauenthal Theater which hosts the West Michigan Symphony and many other entertainment and music acts all year.
